St William of York Catholic Primary School

Welcome

Welcome to St William of York Catholic Primary School!

On behalf of everyone here I would like to warmly welcome you and your family to St William of York Primary School. We are a one form entry primary school, with Nursery provision, catering for children from 2 to 11 years of age. (We started our 2 year old provision in September 2015, which runs alongside the existing 3 and 4 year olds). As the only primary school in Thornton we take pride in our inclusive approach and as a result welcome children from all different faiths and backgrounds.

The school was the subject of an Ofsted Section 5 Inspection in May 2014 and was awarded a “GOOD” grading. In January of this year the school was awarded an “OUTSTANDING” judgment following on from a Section 48 Inspection. These two judgements’ reflect the hard work all stakeholders (children, staff, governors and parents); have put in to ensure that St William of York is a happy and successful school.

We are very proud of our school and have strong links with parents, the parish and the wider community. The school is a member of the Sefton Children's University programme and is able to offer an array of extra-curricular activities as well as a Free Breakfast Club. An After-School Club also operates on the school premises.

At St William of York we pride ourselves on being a warm, friendly and caring school whose aim is to help each individual child achieve their full potential. This ethos is underpinned by our Mission Statement: “Together Everyone Achieves More.”

So enjoy reading our website and please contact me if you would like to visit our school and I will be happy to show you around.
