Basic Skills

This week in basic skills we are going to be concentrating on one more and one less than a given number.  In year one it is expected that by the end of the year, children will be able to say the number that is one more or one less than a given number.  They need to understand that the number before a given number is one less and the number after a given number is one more.

Here are some videos that may just refresh their memories.  I have attached some sheets, however if you don't have a printer you could write out some numbers for your child and they have to write before it the number that is one less and after it the number that is one more.  Follow the link to the top marks game for extra practise.
