English

Vocabulary- Please use these word of the day documents to discuss one new word each day and complete a small challenge e.g. use the word in a sentence/ question (displayed on WOD sheet)

English Lessons- English lessons in school depend on what text we are using and how long we have been using it for. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to replicate exactly what we are doing in school. However, we can provide activities to support your child in the spelling, punctuation and grammar objectives that we cover on a weekly basis. Please find your Week 1 self- isolation activities below.

  • Which sentence uses capital letters correctly?
  • Can you correct the punctuation? (capital letters, full stops, question marks)
  • Can you find the adjectives? (remember, adjectives are describing words)
  • Can you go on a noun hunt? (remember, nouns are people, places and things)
  • Can you find the verbs? (remember, a verb is an action word e.g. run, jump, laugh)

You may wish to ask your child to also keep a 'self- isolation' diary during this time for them to practise their use of handwriting, spelling, capital letters and full stops while at home.
