St William of York Catholic Primary School
This week we would have been starting one of our final maths topics all about measurement. Use the resources below to see if you can learn about mass, capacity and temperature at home.
Monday
Can you compare the mass of objects?
This topic is easier if you have a set of kitchen scales at home but if not, there are plenty of interactive scales for you to access online. Spend today investigating the mass of objects by placing them on scales. The link below is for balancing scales as today you will be comparing which object is lighter or heavier rather than focusing on reading scales. Can you use the symbols < (less than) > (greater than) and = (equal to) to create sentences using the objects you weighed.
e.g. apple < book
mug > crisps
Tuesday
Can you reason and problem solve while comparing mass? Have a go at the questions on the document below.
Wednesday
Today you will begin to read scales. You will be using your 2s, 5s and 10s as some scales go up in different intervals. Use the link below to practise reading scales. Try reading in steps of 10g first.
Thursday
Can you reason and problem solve while measuring mass? Take a look at the questions below and discuss.
