Welcome back year four

Year four teachers.

Ms Shellien.

Miss Kernighan.

Welcome to the year four website page.  We hope all of you and your families are well and keeping safe.   The children have made a lovely start to the year; they are adapting to new routines and are approaching all their learning with enthusiasm and confidence. I am sure we that we will have fantastic year.

The year four team will continue to use the website to communicate important messages as and when they arise so please check our class page as regularly as possible.

What will my child need in school?

Can you please provide your child with the following items to ensure all new systems put into place run smoothly:

A water bottle (to be taken home each evening and returned to school.)

Tissues.

A book bag.

Packed lunch bag (please do not send your child to school with their lunch in a backpack.)

Swimming.

This term year four will attend swimming each Wednesday afternoon.

Reading books.

Reading  books will be sent home with your child  and we ask that they be returned each day.

Please share these books with your child. Question them on the content and the vocabulary. It may be a good idea to read their book more than once! once your child has read the book and their reading record is signed, a new book will be given.

Homework.

Homework will be given out each Friday to be returned on a Monday. This will consist of Maths and English.

The children will also receive spellings for the week each Monday which will be tested on a Friday.

Children should practice their tables ready for a test on a Friday

Year 4 Tables Tests.

Year 4 children will be sitting national table testing screening in May/ June 2022. This will consist of tables up to the 12x . The test is administered electronically and consists of 20 questions. The children will be fully prepared before this takes place. It is essential that the children continue to practice their tables at home and your continued support will be greatly appreciated. We will distribute more information closer to the time.

Chess

One of the biggest challenges is learning to play Chess. we play weekly and this teaches the children strategic thinking as well as discipline and concentration.

Year 4 would like to wish all our families and friends a very happy and safe Christmas and new Year.

Have a fantastic holiday , you all deserve it.

Merry Christmas everybody!
