To coincide with Anti-Bullying week next week (13th-17th November), St William or York children watched the Altru production: 'Time To Be Different'. A story about Lucy.
Lucy lives with her aunty and uncle.
Lucy is a vegetarian.
Lucy doesn’t like the same things as the other girls in her class.
Lucy is special and unique and, according to Izzy, different. And, apparently, being different isn’t a good thing.
But when Lucy’s Uncle hears about what’s been happening in school, he decides it’s time to show Izzy that bullying is not ok. And so begins Izzy’s time travelling adventure, where she learns what being different really means and what the consequences of being a bully could be.
The performance explored what it means to be ‘different’ and why some people are scared of those who are different from themselves. As the characters travel back in time, the children learned that we are all different and that it is important to treat everyone with respect. The children loved the performance and will apply the lessons learned in day-to-day life.
